After decades of schedules, checklists, crews, travel, and responsibility, airline retirement comes at you fast.
Buckhead Longevity helps commercial airline pilots prepare for the health and non-financial side of life after the flight deck.
Retirement at 65 is more than a financial transition.
Many commercial airline pilots approaching retirement wonder:
Who am I without the uniform? Flying has been central to your identity for decades.
What replaces the schedule and mission? An empty calendar feels wrong.
Where does my community go? Much of your social world may revolve around other pilots, crews, and aviation.
What happens to my health when my schedule changes? Years of irregular hours, time-zone changes, sitting, disrupted sleep, and travel can affect health.
Do I actually want to stop flying? Some pilots want a clean break; others want instruction, corporate aviation, mentoring, consulting, volunteering, or another second act.
The airline planned your flying career. We help you plan what comes next.
The Buckhead Longevity Retirement Medicine™ program for commercial pilots has four pillars:
Health - In retirement, pilots must overcome years of job-related health challenges, including a sedentary lifestyle and circadian sleep/wake disruptions. We order specialized lab tests to gauge your future risk for cardiometabolic disease and recommend nutrition and lifestyle changes to improve your strength and resilience.
Relationships - Your daily contact with work colleagues, fellow pilots, and flight crew may disappear. You will spend more time with your spouse and family in your home city. We help you reconnect and revitalize your social calendar.
Fun & Adventure - Retirement shouldn’t be boring. We help you adjust to life on the ground.
Purpose & Meaning - You need new challenges. Perhaps it’s time to start a business, launch a charity, or write that novel.
Retirement Medicine™ for Pilots FAQs
-
No. Your RIA, tax advisor, or the Retirement & Insurance committee handles the money. We cover the non-financial side: health, energy, relationships, home, and what you do after the last landing.
-
Not at all! The review is usually more useful before the last trip than after. Age 65 is a fixed date. Waiting until you turn in your badge leaves less time to rebuild sleep, strength, and a calendar that isn’t built around a bid.
-
No. You still see your aviation medical examiner for the certificate and your primary doctor for care. We don't file with the FAA, interpret your medical certificate, or recommend starting or stopping medications.
We assess retirement-specific risk (heart disease, cognitive decline, strength, home safety) that often falls outside a routine physical, and we send your doctor a written report.
-
Our Retirement Medicine program, including labs, is a $3,999 investment. We offer a special $4,999 package for couples.
-
We serve pilots in Georgia, Texas, and California. We draw labs at a local Quest location. Visits are usually online.
Atlanta-area pilots, including Delta crews based at ATL, can also arrange an in-person visit in or near Buckhead.
-
Yes! We encourage couples. Let’s be candid, the schedule that kept you apart ends on a date. Life will change, and you should be ready.
Our couples review covers both of you: shared health risks, your new social calendar, and how the house and the week actually work once you are home full time.

No, we are not affiliated with Delta or any other airlines.
